Transformational Allyship

Dame Ruth May, Chief Nursing Officer for England

Allyship stands on four pillars: listening, learning, speaking up, and taking action. Allies listen, empathize, educate themselves, speak against discrimination, and actively uplift ethnic minorities.

By engaging in allyship, we create a more equitable workplace, where everyone can succeed. Let’s stand together, fostering a culture of allyship that empowers all individuals.…..that’s the magic!

Senior healthcare staff from the ‘global Majority’ are underrepresented in senior leadership positions within the NHS. The percentage of individuals from ethnic backgrounds in very senior managerial roles has been significantly lower than their representation in the overall workforce. This is why we value the support from committed allies to challenge this paradigm because ultimately this affects all.

Who are we

Curious. At the Jabali Men's Network, curiosity is our guiding principle. We approach each interaction with a genuine interest in people, ideas, and the unexplored. Our efforts are rooted in understanding diverse perspectives, always choosing exploration over the need to be right.

Resilient. The path we tread in healthcare leadership is filled with challenges, and our ambitious goals do sometimes lead to setbacks. However, we view these moments not as failures, but as invaluable opportunities to refine our approach and strengthen our resolve.

Humble. In our network, humility is a cornerstone. We steer clear of arrogance and complacency, fostering an environment that welcomes everyone. Open to evolution, we acknowledge that our current methods have room for improvement and that learning is a continuous journey.

Macro-optimistic. The Jabali Men's Network is built on a foundation of optimism. We dismiss cynicism, firmly believing that with the right understanding and a concentrated effort, all challenges can be overcome. Our outlook is firmly planted in the belief that progress is not just possible but inevitable over time.

Exothermic. Our network radiates energy and warmth, creating a ripple effect that inspires teams and the broader community. Passionate about our work, we are committed to building an exceptionally supportive and welcoming environment, where every member feels valued and energised to achieve their best.
